Course Info
Purpose

The course provides knowledge to the Company Security Officer (CSO) on how to ensure and uphold the security of the ship while working closely with the Ship Security Officer (SSO) and the Port Facility Security Officer (PFCO). The CSO, appointed by the company, will learn how to develop, implement and maintain the ship security plan as well as planning audits and assessments of the security related documents and installations.

Structure

The course is conducted as e-learning with a written assignment based on a practical exercise as per the STCW code.

Content

To successfully pass the course, the participant must be able to: • Develop, maintain and supervise the implementation of a Ship Security Plan • Ensure security equipment and systems, if any, are properly operated • Assess security risk, threat, and vulnerability • Ensure appropriate security measures are implemented and maintained • Encourage security awareness and vigilance

Cirka 155 minutes, but the course can be taken in the seafarer’s own pace.

Standard

STCW approved by the Danish Maritime Authorities, DMA, as per MSC/Circ. 1154 of the STCW code.

Certification

Upon completion of the theoretical elements of the course and approval of the report on the written assignment, a Certificate of Proficiency can be downloaded from the seafarer´s logbook on the VIKING Safety Academy platform.
